Report: Napoli to sign Amin Younes for half of Swansea City’s £9m bid

Premier League bottom club Swansea City have been left frustrated in their pursuit of Ajax winger Amin Younes with Serie A leaders Napoli closing in.

Swansea City really could have done with Amin Younes. Despite a recent improvement under Carlos Carvalhal and a hugely impressive 1-0 win at home to Liverpool on Sunday, the Swans are still badly in need of attacking reinforcements before the transfer window shuts.

They are the lowest scorers in the Premier League yet it is not just wasteful finishing but a lack of creativity that has rendered them toothless at times this season.

So the creativity, sharp dribbling and vision of Ajax winger Younes would have made him a potentially key signing of the second half of the campaign.

Sky Sports reported on Monday that Swansea made a £9 million bid for the German international, who scored 12 and set up 19 in 65 Eredivisie appearances for the Amsterdam giants.

But just three days later, Younes has reportedly agreed a move to Serie A giants Napoli instead. And, just to add to Swansea’s frustrations, Football Italia claim that the Italian league leaders will pay around half the £9 million fee put on the table by the South Welsh club.

It was expected that Napoli would move for Younes when his contract expires in the summer but have now changed tack, bringing the Confederations Cup winning winger to the Stadio San Paolo this month due to increased interest from elsewhere.

And Football Italia adds that Ajax were forced to accept the lower offer as Younes as so desperate to sign for Napoli.

Understandable really, considering Maurizio Sarri’s side are dreaming of a first Scudetto since 1990 while Swansea are simply attempting to avoid relegation.
