Serie A giants Napoli are trying to sign Alisson Becker from Roma, but Liverpool continue to be linked with a move to bring the Brazilian to Anfield.

The race to sign Roma goalkeeper Alisson Becker has just stepped up a notch.

The Brazil number one is one of the most in-demand shot-stoppers in European football right now and, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen to enhance his goalkeeping options, he has been linked with a big money move to Anfield.

According to The Sun, Liverpool are indeed keen on a ‘keeper who has been the best in Serie A this season. However, he would cost a world-record fee, with Roma putting a £70 million price-tag on his head, and Jack Butland’s Premier League experience mean the Stoke City man is Klopp’s preferred option.

Per Gazzetta dello Sport, however, there has been an opening bid for Alisson – but not from Merseyside.

It is understood that Napoli have started the bidding for the former Internacional stopper, though Serie A rivals Roma have unsurprisingly swatted away their offer of just £35 million.

With PSG, Real Madrid and Liverpool all keen on Alisson, Roma will know they can get far more from elsewhere.

But it is far from guaranteed that the Samba star will leave the Stadio Olimpico this summer. Gazzetta add that there is a chance that Alisson could ink a new contract at Roma with improved terms which will vastly increase his £7 million-a-year wages.
