Glasgow Rangers have brought a whole host of new signings to Ibrox but their business may not be done just yet.
With just a matter of weeks before the new Scottish Premiership season kicks off, Rangers are looking a little light up top.
The Scottish Premiership giants have got rid of Eduardo Herrera while deciding against a permanent deal for Jason Cummings. As a result, there are only two senior striking options at Gerrard’s disposal as things stand.
One of those is Umar Sadiq, the unproven 21-year-old who has joined on loan from Roma. The other, Alfredo Morelos (below), has just one goal in his last 12 games and looked nervous in front of goal against Shkupi in the Europa League qualifiers.
So it should come as a relief to Rangers supporters to learn that the former Liverpool skipper is desperate to sign another striker before the transfer window slams shut in August, according to the Daily Record (live blog, 12.51pm).
This comes just a few days after Gerrard told the Scottish Sun that he would rather avoid being forced to bring in further attacking reinforcements this summer.
But Rangers’ failure to finish off Shkupi, limping to a goalless draw in Macedonia, appears to have highlighted the lack of real cutting edge in the final third.
It remains to be seen what names are on Rangers’ wish list.
