Nottingham Forest have been linked with Bournemouth’s Lewis Grabban, Peterborough United’s Jack Marriott and Dinamo Zagreb’s El Arabi Hillel Soudani.
A new striker is perhaps the biggest requirement for Nottingham Forest this summer.
The City Ground side struggled for goals throughout last season, with Daryl Murphy and Ben Brereton hardly in prolific form and their top scorer, on loan midfielder Kieren Dowell, failing to even reach double figures.
But Forest are taking active steps to resolve the problem with the likes of Lewis Grabban, Jack Marriott and El Arabi Hillel Soudani – who were all in unstoppable form across 2017/18 – reportedly on the club’s radar.
Grabban is the only one of the three to ever play Championship football and he scored 20 times during loan spells at Aston Villa and Sunderland last season from Premier League side Bournemouth. Only Derby’s Matej Vydra scored more.
Marriott, the Peterborough United phenomenon who the Mail believe will cost £5 million, was the Football League’s most prolific marksman in 2017/18 with 33 goals in all competitions. And Posh’s director of football Barry Fry has claimed to the Post that Marriott favours a move to the City Ground because of Forest’s rich history.
Soudani, meanwhile, was awarded Player of the Year and the Golden Boot as Dinamo Zagreb won the Croatian title. But the 30-year-old Algerian, who La Buteur believes will sign for Forest this summer, is a far riskier option.
Making Grabban the number one choice seems sensible.
