Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough are desperate for a return to the Premier League.

The January transfer window has the potential to really change things up in the Championship.
As it stands, there are just six points separating Norwich City in top spot from Nottingham Forest in seventh – with Middlesbrough one of five clubs in between.
Tony Pulis’ side are currently second in the table, and appear to be well placed for a return to the Premier League, just two years after they were relegated following a brief spell back in the top flight.
According to Calciomercato, however, the North East outfit are one of a number of clubs keeping tabs on the Swiss starlet Stephane Cueni, a box-to-box midfielder currently playing his football for Team Vaud in his home country.

Cueni is out of contract at the end of the season and, Calciomercato adds, he has also caught the eye of Serie A trio Udinese, Parma and Torino.
Middlesbrough would be making some statement if the club manager to beat off three Italian top flight clubs for the midfielder’s signature, even if he would probably be one for the future rather than someone capable of making the difference in the promotion race.
