Paul Heckingbottom could reportedly return to the Championship with Boro while Stendel is also allegedly an option.

There are two new names in the frame for the vacant Middlesbrough job on Friday morning – Paul Heckingbottom and Daniel Stendel, according to the Northern Echo.
Boro missed out on a place in the Championship play-off places last season and Tony Pulis paid the price for a disappointing seventh place finish, being sacked by owner Steve Gibson a fortnight ago.
The North East outfit are yet to announce who will replace Pulis at the Riverside despite links with the likes of Chris Hughton, Nigel Pearson and Slavisa Jokanovic, not to mention left-field options such as Michael Reiziger and Gabriel Batistuta.
According to The Echo, however, Boro could turn to Heckingbottom after he rebuilt his reputation with a fine spell with Hibernian. A former Sunderland and Darlington defender, the 41-year-old’s last spell in the Championship was a disastrous four month reign at Leeds United.

Heckingbottom was sacked after winning four of his 16 games in charge of Leeds.
45-year-old German Stendel, however, led Barnsley to promotion from League One recently and seems like the sort of outgoing, affable personality who would immediately get the Middlesbrough fans on side.
