Chris Wilder took Sheffield United from League One to the Premier League, with Championship duo Boro and West Brom understandably linked.

Middlesbrough are keeping an eye on Chris Wilder’s situation at Sheffield United, according to the Express and Star, as the North East outfit step up their pursuit of Tony Pulis’s replacement.
At the age of 51, Wilder has belatedly established himself as one of the most respected coaches in English football after guiding his boyhood club, an unfancied Sheffield United, back to the Premier League following a 12-year absence.
The Stocksbridge-born tactician, who took over at Bramall Lane when the Blades were in League One, is also the current LMA Manager of the Year. Wilder beat Pep Guardiola, Daniel Farke and Jurgen Klopp to the award in May.
But, according to the Express and Star, there is a chance that Wilder might not be the Sheffield United manager by the time the 2019/20 season kicks off.

The report points out that he is becoming increasingly frustrated by the ongoing legal battle between the club’s joint owners and he is desperate to be handed assurances about his transfer budget.
West Bromwich Albion have shown an interest in Wilder, who also led Northampton Town to the League Two title in 2016, while Boro are circling, too.
