Premier League outfit Crystal Palace, as well as Championship duo Boro and Brentford, reportedly want Southend United’s Dru Yearwood

At the age of just 18, it seems that Dru Yearwood has already outgrown his League One pond.
The highly-rated Southend United midfielder has been a regular at the heart of midfield this season and his performances have attracted plenty of interest from clubs higher up the footballing pyramid.
The Sun (30 October, page 59) report that Crystal Palace want to bring Yearwood to the Premier League with their sporting director, the ex-Shrimpers striker Dougie Freedman, having been given the inside track by his former club.
And The Sun (26 November, page 60) is now reporting that Palace are facing competition from their former manager Tony Pulis. It is understood that Middlesbrough are also interested in the teenager, who has started nine league games this season for Chris Powell’s side.

The report adds that Southend don’t want to sell their biggest asset but may be forced to cash in should a decent offer arrive. The London club could ask to bring Yearwood back on loan, however, to continue his development at Roots Hall while TEAMtalk have also claimed that another Championship outfit, Brentford, are keen on the Southend starlet too.
Though, speaking to the Echo in October, Powell claimed that Yearwood would be better off staying where he is right now.
“This is the best place for Dru at the current time. He will only get better from playing games and he’ll get that here,” said Powell.
“But he’s a player that when fit and available is a very big young talent.”
