West Bromwich Albion need a new manager with ten games left in the Championship season, having sacked Darren Moore on Saturday.

Michael Appleton has been lined up for a return to West Bromwich Albion as the Championship outfit look to replace the departed Darren Moore, according to TEAMtalk.

Club legend Moore was handed his P45 on Saturday after a 1-1 draw with bottom of the table Ipswich Town, a decision that angered plenty of fans and pundits. The Baggies, after all, are almost guaranteed a place in the play-offs and are still the second most prolific side in England’s second tier.

West Brom’s focus will now turn to finding a replacement with ten games to go in the Championship season.

The Telegraph reports that they are hoping to hold talks with the former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic while David Wagner, Alex Neil and Carlos Carvalhal, who all have plenty of experience in the division, are under consideration.

But TEAMtalk has also thrown Appleton’s name into the ring. The 43-year-old coach ended his playing career at the Baggies and also spent time at The Hawthorns as Roy Hodgson’s assistant in 2011.

He was most recently seen at Leicester City but left his behind-the-scenes role in July.

TEAMtalk adds that another former West Brom player, the Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes, would be willing to leave Scotland to return to the Midlands should the opportunity arise.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is seen during the Betfred Cup Final between Aberdeen and Celtic at Hampden Park on November 27, 2016 in Glasgow, Scotland.
