Jose Anigo could reportedly be on his way to the Championship with Nottingham Forest looking for a new director of football.
It has been all go at Nottingham Forest in the last few weeks.
With owner Evangelos Marinakis desperate to lead the East Midland giants back to the Premier League after 20 years outside of the top flight, he is making some big changes behind the scenes.
Kyriakos Dourekas, who spent 25 years working at Marinakis’ Olympiakos, was officially appointed as Nottingham Forest’s director of football in December. And it seems that the two-time European champions are considering another off-field addition.
According to L’Equipe, Jose Anigo is in talks with Nottingham Forest about potentially becoming the club’s sporting director.
The 57-year-old is best known for his time as a player and a manager at French powerhouses Marseille. He made over 200 appearances for the club and then led them to the 2004 UEFA Cup final from the dugout.
Anigo had a second spell in charge of Marseille in 2013/14 and is currently without a job after a brief spell in Greece with Panionios – where he presumably caught the eye of Marinakis.
If Anigo is appointed as Forest’s sporting director, he is expected to have play a major role in the club’s recruitment. The Frenchman certainly has an eye for a bargain, having signed the likes of Matheiu Valbuena and Steve Mandanda during his time at Marseille.
