Premier League giants Spurs could lose left-back Danny Rose to Manchester United; if Red Devils’ manager Jose Mourinho gets his way, that is.

Danny Rose’s future at Tottenham Hotspur still looks uncertain despite the long-serving left-back forcing his way back into Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI in recent weeks.

Ever since that infamous interview with The Sun, in which Rose questioned Spurs’ ambition and hinted that he would be tempted to leave in search of silverware and a bigger pay-packet, the England international has been linked with a move away.

And it is understood that Manchester United are among the clubs keen to take the one-time Leeds youngster back up north. Although while Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Spurs’ number three, it appears that United’s vice-chairman Ed Woodward is less enamoured by his potential arrival at Old Trafford.

The Mirror states that Mourinho’s first choice transfer target in the January window is the £50 million-rated Rose. It does not take a genius to understand why Mourinho is keen, having been forced to field Ashley Young as a makeshift left-back at recent times.

But Woodward, who pulls the strings for United in the transfer market, wants a younger, cheaper alternative at Old Trafford; which will not go down well with Mourinho after he claimed the club simply did not have the same might in the transfer market as their big-spending local rivals Manchester City.

It is understood that United would have to sell a few players in order to finance a deal for Rose. And the report adds that the frustrations between Mourinho and Woodward have heightened to the extent that the manager is now considering whether he really wants to stay at Old Trafford beyond next season.

Rose, then, has been left in limbo, especially with Ben Davies seemingly established as Spurs’ first choice left-back these days.
