Will PSG’s Ligue 1 star Edinson Cavani finally move to Old Trafford with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United reportedly eyeing a striker?
Manchester United are on red alert with Edinson Cavani determined to play in the Premier League before it is too late, according to Calciomercato.
The Uruguayan goal-machine has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe over the last decade or so and took his game to a whole new level when Zlatan Ibrahimovic left PSG in the summer of 2016, allowing Cavani to take on a starring role.
He is the club’s all time record goalscorer, hitting the back of the net 192 times. The former Napoli forward, who moved to the Parc des Princes for £55 million in 2013 (BBC), has scored 22 goals this season despite spending much of the campaign on the sidelines with injury.
But Calciomercato claims that Cavani is desperate to get himself a move to the Premier League and Manchester United, who have been interested for some time, are apparently on ‘red alert’.
United have been linked with Cavani for a number of years, the Daily Star claiming in 2014 that they had held talks with the forward after sacking David Moyes.
But it was claimed that Cavani was reluctant to move to Old Trafford due to the club’s rapid decline. And, with United set to miss out on Champions League qualification, it remains to be seen if anything has changed five years on.
