Manchester City are leading the race to sign Lyon powerhouse Tanguy Ndombele this summer and are prepared to offer him a five-year deal, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The rangy France international has blossomed under Bruno Genesio at the Stade OL and, like team-mates Houssem Aouar, Nabil Fekir and Memphis Depay, looks set to find himself at the centre of a transfer tug-of-war over the coming months.

Gazzetta dello Sport claimed recently that Real Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool are interested but it seems that City are set to break the bank in an attempt to lure Ndombele to the Etihad Stadium.

TMW reports that the Premier League champions are readying a bid of £60 million, which would see Ndombele become the club’s joint-record signing alongside Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez. Manchester City are also ready to hand the former Angers youngster a five-year contract.

Ndombele, who has earned four caps for the French national team, is a powerful and technically gifted central midfielder who would more than likely replace 33-year-old Fernandinho in the North West.

Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he wants a talented young holding midfielder amid links with the likes of Rodri, Saul, Declan Rice and Florentino Luis.
