Reports linking Luciano Narsingh with an impending departure from Swansea City just won’t go away.
Sky Sports reports that the South Wales side paid PSV Eindhoven £4 million for the jet-heeled winger in January but, after almost a year in the Premier League, Narsingh is yet to really show why he was once so highly rated in the Eredivisie.
While the January signings of Tom Carroll and Martin Olsson were largely credited for Swansea turning their struggling season around in 2016/17, the 16-cap Dutchman did not make anywhere near the same impact.
Narsingh started just three Premier League games for Swansea in the final six months of last season and has added another two to his tally under Paul Clement in 2017/18. And reports in Turkish publication Mynet Spor claim that it’s this lack of game time that has Narsingh now eyeing a January departure from the Liberty Stadium.
The report claims that the two-time Eredivisie winner has told Swansea chiefs that he wants to sign for Super Lig giants Fenerbahce – who were interested in signing the 27-year-old last January before he made the move to the Premier League.
Fenerbahce have endured a hugely disappointing season so far and sit sixth in the Turkish top flight. But this is nothing compared to the struggles of Swansea, who are facing up to a successive relegation dogfight.
According to the Wales Online, Narsingh has struggled to adapt to the pace and intensity of the English game – and with few signs suggesting that he has turned a corner, a January move might be best for all parties.
