Roma’s Serie A star Lorenzo Pellegrini has been earning rave reviews, with Premier League giants Liverpool reportedly big admirers.

Liverpool’s hopes of bringing Lorenzo Pellegrini to Anfield at the end of this season appear to be over already.
According to Calciomercato, Jurgen Klopp’s side are interested in the highly-rated Roma midfielder, who has thrived since returning to the Stadio Olimpico last summer after an impressive two-year spell at Serie A rivals Sassuolo.
A dynamic central midfielder renowned for his powerful bursts and long shots, Pellegrini has started 16 league games for Roma under Eusebio Di Francesco, who he also worked with at Sassuolo.

And according to Calciomercato, Liverpool were interested in signing the Italian international, who has a release clause of around £26 million in his contract.
But not for much longer. Because it is understood that the respected sporting director Monchi is set to offer Pellegrini a new deal which would get rid of that clause, and it seems that the Rome-born youngster is more than happy to remain in his spiritual home.

“It’s important for young players to want to grow and improve but I’m really happy back at the club where I grew up,” Pellegrini said in quotes reported by Calciomercato.
“The objective of every player is to win trophies and like (Daniele) De Rossi and (Francesco) Totti have stated in the past, winning a Scudetto here would be the equivalent of winning ten elsewhere.”
Liverpool’s reported interest in this rising star of Italy’s next generation will only add to the rumours about Emre Can’s potential departure. The German is out of contract this summer and is expected to move on.
