Liverpool could work with Spanish second tier side Real Mallorca and not for the first time.
Victor de Baunbag has scored goals for fun during the last three years in Real Mallorca’s reserve teams. And, according to Sport, Liverpool’s interest has been piqued.
The 18-year-old forward, who was born in Madrid and hails from Cameroon, has been the top scorer in each of the last three campaigns for Mallorca at youth level, and it is expected that he will make the step up to the first-team squad before the end of the season.
Sport claims that Liverpool have been keeping a close eye on De Baunbag, whose 6ft 2ins frame perhaps makes him a good fit for the physicality of Premier League football.
The teenage striker can also play on the wing, although his favoured role is through the middle, and his prolific form has led Mallorca to the brink of first place in the Division de Honour youth league, behind Barcelona and Real Zaragoza.
Liverpool have worked with Mallorca before, sending Colombian centre-back Anderson Arroyo on loan to the Spanish second tier outfit last season.
As reported by Goal, they offered a trial to Mallorca attacker Angel Sanchez Baro in May, too, although the 21-year-old is now with the Espanyol B team.
Sport adds that Liverpool have expressed an interest in De Baunbag, with a move to Anfield on the cards.
