Jasper Cillessen is reportedly weighing up his future at La Liga champions Barcelona, with Liverpool keen to take him from Camp Nou.

Danny Ward featured just once for Liverpool’s first-team last season, so it perhaps reflects on the club’s dire goalkeeping situation that Jurgen Klopp is set to hand him the chance to show why he should be the Reds’ number one according to the Mirror.
With Liverpool’s goalkeeping targets either proving unavailable or far too costly, it seemed that Loris Karius was expected to start next season between the sticks despite those two infamous errors in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.
But another blunder against Tranmere in pre-season once again sparked the argument about Liverpool’s need to bring in a new number one from elsewhere. And, while Ward is under consideration, it seems the Anfield giants still have one eye on Jasper Cillessen.

Cillessen is very happy at La Liga champions Barcelona but he is also aware of the need for more regular game-time. The former Ajax stopper has made just two league starts in two seasons at the Camp Nou.
It is understood that Cillessen has a £50 million release clause in his contract, meaning he wouldn’t come cheap. But he is still a more affordable option than Alisson Becker, Jan Oblak, Gianluigi Donarumma and co.
Bench-warmer at Barca or Liverpool’s first-choice, the ball is in Cillessen’s court now.
