Arsenal could lose Aaron Ramsey on a free at the end of the season, with Liverpool reportedly interested.

James Milner is just getting better with age.

At 32, the former England international has began this season in the form of his life for Liverpool and started seven out of eight Premier League games so far.

But how much longer can Milner, a player who relies so heavily on his mobility and work rate, continue in a Liverpool side that demands so much from a physical point of view?

It would be remiss of Klopp, then, not to plan for the future.

And reports in The Mirror (17 October, page 57) claim that Liverpool have already identified a replacement for Milner at Anfield – Aaron Ramsey.

Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal scores his team's third goal during the Premier League match between Fulham FC and Arsenal FC at Craven Cottage on October 7, 2018 in London, United Kingdom.

Ramsey is due to be a free agent in June and it is well documented that contract talks have stalled at Arsenal. And, according to The Mirror, Liverpool have joined Manchester United, Chelsea and bitter rivals Everton in expressing an interest in the 27-year-old Welshman.

Haring around the pitch like a hyped-up Jack Russell is not quite Ramsey’s style, however, so he would not exactly be a like-for-like replacement for Milner.

But there are few midfielders on the market who can claim to share Milner’s boundless energy and ability to play in a whole host of positions with equal effectiveness.
