Premier League giants Liverpool have been linked with a shock swoop to sign Robertson’s Scotland rival Tierney from Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.

Liverpool already have one Scotland international left-back and, according to the Manchester Evening News, could be tempted to sign another this summer.

Andrew Robertson has been one of the bargains of the season since he swapped Hull City for Liverpool last summer, becoming a real fan favourite at Anfield thanks to his warrior spirit, full-blooded approach and impressive deliveries from out wide.

But it is understood that Liverpool could surprisingly throw their hat into the ring to sign Robertson’s international colleague Kieran Tierney from Celtic this summer.

The Manchester Evening News reports that the three-time PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year is in demand, with Manchester United and Bournemouth both having shown an interest, although Jose Mourinho is now understood to have made Juventus’s Alex Sandro his top target.

And the report adds that Liverpool could enter the race, having been linked with the Celtic flyer last year.

The Sun claims that Tierney is valued at around £20 million but it seems unlikely that Celtic will sell or the player himself would want to leave so soon after signing a six-year contract at his boyhood club.

But if Liverpool were to pull off a deal for one of the most exciting young talents in British football, the battle between Robertson and Tierney at club level, never mind on the international stage, would be an intriguing watch.
