Liverpool loaned German goalkeeper Loris Karius out to Super Lig giants Besiktas last summer.
Loris Karius could see his two-year loan at Besiktas cut short this summer, with Fotospor reporting that the Liverpool goalkeeper is a target for Werder Bremen.
A £4.7 million addition from Bundesliga outfit Mainz in 2016 (BBC), Karius’s Liverpool career will always be tainted by that nightmare outing in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid 12 months ago, the German ‘keeper gifting goals to Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale during a remarkable second-half collapse.
Karius belatedly impressed since joining Besiktas on loan last summer, however, and Fotospor report that Werder Bremen are keen to bring him back to Germany.
Furthermore, Besiktas are keen to get Karius off their books as they do not want to trigger an automatic purchase clause which would require them to pay around £8 million for the 25-year-old.
Funds have been tight at the Istanbul giants, who were forced to let experienced defender Pepe go to Portugal in January, so it makes sense that they would have second thoughts about paying a substantial fee for Karius, even if his dispalys have improved in the last few months.
