Taiwo Awoniyi might never make his Premier League debut for Liverpool with clubs in the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Belgium reportedly keen.

Schalke have approached Liverpool about signing young striker Taiwo Awoniyi in the summer, as reported by Goal.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan at Belgian outfit Mouscron and has enjoyed a fine start to life at the club he joined in January, scoring six goals in seven games so far.

As a result, it is claimed that Liverpool have received a number of enquiries from clubs across Europe.

With Awoniyi unable to play in England due to ongoing work permit issues, they could be forced to sell the forward or let him leave on loan once again.

Goal claims that Liverpool would want around £10 million if they were to accept a permanent deal for the Nigerian U23 international.

Metz, Nice, Toulouse, Club Brugge and Mainz are also interested, although it appears that Schalke are leading the race as it stands. Hertha Berlin are keen, too, perhaps encouraged by the success Marko Grujic has enjoyed at the Olimpiastadion on loan from Anfield.

If Awoniyi is to have a future on Merseyside, however, he will need to receive a first international call up in the near future.
