Premier League giants Liverpool have been linked with a shock move to sign Hysaj from Serie A title-chasers Napoli

Elseid Hysaj might not be one of the most recognisable of Napoli’s Scudetto chasing squad but the Albanian right-back has been absolutely essential to Maurizio Sarri’s team this season.
Which, almost inevitably, means the former Empoli man has attracted plenty of Premier League attention.
Alfredo Pedulla reports that Hysaj’s agent Mario Giuffredi was in England on Tuesday and met with Chelsea, would could perhaps do with an upgrade on Victor Moses and Davide Zappacosta.

But the report adds that Giuffredi discovered that two other Premier League teams, Manchester United and Liverpool, are also big fans of the defender and could be willing to pay his £45 million release clause this summer.
While interest from Manchester United makes sense due to Antonio Valencia’s advancing years and Matteo Darmian’s impending exit, links with Liverpool are somewhat baffling.

There are number of positions Jurgen Klopp could do with reinforcing this summer but right-back is not one of them. Liverpool have Nathaniel Clyne returning from injury while Joe Gomez and local lad Trent Alexander-Arnold have both been revelations this season.
At 20 and 19 respectively, they could be the future for both Liverpool and England.
So why on earth would they pay £45 million for Hysaj?
