Liverpool fans have been pleading to see Rafael Camacho in action for quite some time. Whether they will ever get their wish remains to be seen.

Alongside the likes of Curtis Jones, Ben Woodburn and Harry Wilson, Camacho has established himself as one of the most promising young players at Anfield in the last few months and to say he impressed in pre-season would be an understatement.

But the Portuguese U18 international, a winger who can play anywhere across the front line and even at right-back, is facing an uncertain future at Liverpool beyond this season.

According to O Jogo, Sporting Lisbon are due on Merseyside this week to discuss the potential signing of Camacho with just a year-and-a-half remaining on his current contract.

Camacho, who started his career with Sporting, could return to the Estadio Jose Alvalade on an 18-month loan deal with an option-to-buy clause understood to be worth around £13.5 million.

The teenager could be forgiven for wondering whether he should stay at Liverpool with Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, Xherdan Shaqiri and co ahead of him in the pecking order.

Sporting would surely give Camacho access to more regular first-team football, but he should remember that Jurgen Klopp has given debuts to a number of youngsters in his managerial career.
