Former Ajax wonder-kid Ki-Jana Hoever is eyeing a first Premier League appearance under Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Liverpool believe that highly-rated full-back Ki-Jana Hoever could potentially develop into a holding midfielder after honing his considerable talents at Anfield, according to Goal.

At the age of just 17, big things are already expected of the Amsterdam-born teenager.

Hoever went under the radar when he arrived at Anfield from Ajax last summer, despite Liverpool beating Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea to his sought-after signature.

But after a whirlwind 12 months which included a first-team debut in the FA Cup against Wolves to become the third youngest player in Liverpool’s history, the teenager has now signed a new, long-term deal with the Champions of Europe.

A full-back by trade, Hoever is equally comfortable at centre-half and has played in both positions during The Reds’ pre-season tour.

But, as you might expect from a young Dutchman who received an education in the home of ‘Total Voetbal’, Hoever is more than happy with the ball at his feet, marauding into midfield and using his fine passing range to start attacks from defence.

According to Goal, Hoever is so comfortable in possession that coaches at Anfield believe a future at the base of midfield could await.

The test now, however, is for the Holland U17 star to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans over the next few months. With Nathaniel Clyne out of action until the turn of the year, Hoever might now be Liverpool’s number two option at right-back behind Trent Alexander-Arnold.
