Are Wolverhampton Wanderers about to see the other side of a relationship with Jorge Mendes?

The Portuguese super-agent is a hero at Molineux right now. His close ties with Wolves’ Chinese owners, Fosun International, have paved the way for some truly exceptional talents to light up the Black Country over the last two seasons.

With Ruben Neves, Diogo Jota, Helder Costa and co in the squad and Nuno Espirito Santo in the dugout, Wolves have cruised to the Championship title and will be a Premier League team next season.

But while Mendes can bring players to Molineux, he can just as easily take them away. Neves, the club’s £15.8 million record signing and their talismanic midfielder, has insisted that he wants to stay this summer but reports suggest he could, in fact, be on the move.

Brazilian journalist Marcus Alves, writing in FourFourTwo, reported that Neves has an ongoing negotiation with Liverpool while the former Porto skipper is also now on Tottenham’s radar, according to The Mirror.

And Calciomercato now claims that AC Milan, who have worked closely with Mendes in recent times, could make Neves a shock signing this summer. The report adds that Mendes has emerged as a close ally for Milan in the transfer market and he is considering sending one of his most talented clients to the San Siro – with Neves a genuine possibility.

Now, when Mendes was pulling the strings at Valencia, he became deeply unpopular with some supporters for taking his clients, most notably Nicolas Otamendi, away from the Mestalla.

Wolves, then, might have to start accepting the rub with the green.
