Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion both reportedly wanted to sign Nantes talisman Emilano Sala.

Emilano Sala is one of the more underrated strikers in Ligue 1.

The 27-year-old Argentine has scored 12 goals in each of the last two seasons for Nantes and has started 2018/19 in fine style, too, netting three times in two starts so far in France’s top flight; although Sala could have been playing his football in England this season.

Foot 365 reported that Watford had failed with a £15 million bid leading up to August’s transfer deadline and it seems that two other Premier League sides were left disappointed, too.

According to L’Equipe, Sala has rejected moves to both Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion this year. It is understood, however, that he was keen on a switch to Turkish champions Galatasaray, and Nantes have failed to extend a contract that runs until 2020.

This should be considered a blow to Crystal Palace, who are severely lacking a prolific goal-scorer amid Christian Benteke’s ongoing struggles in the final third.

Bitter rivals Brighton, meanwhile, remain overly reliant on 34-year-old Glenn Murray with neither Florin Andone or Jurgen Locadia making an impact at the Amex just yet.
