Watford defender Christian Kabasele has been quietly impressive in the Premier League, reportedly catching the eye of Leicester City.
Watford’s Christian Kabasele is the latest defender linked with a move to Leicester City as a potential replacement for Harry Maguire, as reported by The Mail.
Leicester are understandably desperate to keep hold of their much-admired England international with just a week until the transfer window slams shut.
That is easier said than done, however. Though The Telegraph reports that Manchester United are yet to increase their initial £70 million bid, Maguire has been left out of Leicester’s friendly against Atalanta on Friday because he is apparently not in the right frame of mind.
And The Foxes do appear to be preparing for a worse-case scenario.
The Mail claims that Leicester will turn to James Tarkowski or Lewis Dunk of Burnley and Brighton respectively should Manchester United make an offer they simply cannot refuse. And Kabasele is the latest man in contention to fill the void at the King Power Stadium.
A £5.8 million signing from Genk in 2016, according to Sky Sports, Kabasele is one of the most underrated defenders in the Premier League and shone as Watford enjoyed a superb 2018/19 season, finishing eleventh and reaching the FA Cup final.
The Belgian international is rather limited compared to the multi-faceted Maguire, however, lacking the Englishman’s ability to drive out from the back and start attacks with his superb distribution.
