Rachid Ghezzal started eight Premier League games for Leicester City last season and he could reportedly join Sampdoria in a swap with Dennis Praet.

Leicester City are in talks over a potential £18 million deal for Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet, according to the Mail, while Rachid Ghezzal could be sent to Italy as part of the deal.

It seems like Praet has been linked with a move to the Premier League for the best part of eternity. But with just over 24 hours remaining in the transfer window, it seems there is light at the end of a prolonged transfer saga.

According to the Mail, Arsenal have been tracking the Belgium international since 2010 and Unai Emery was keen to lure Praet to the Emirates this summer too.

Yet Leicester are now at the front of the queue as they look to reunite the 25-year-old with his former Anderlecht team-mate Youri Tielemans at the King Power Stadium.

Composed and effective in possession, it is no surprise that Brendan Rodgers is a big fan of Praet, who should have few problems adapting to Leicester’s possession-based style.

The Mail even claims that the Foxes could include Ghezzal, a 2018 signing from Monaco as a makeweight in a deal that is likely to cost somewhere in the region of £18 million. The Algerian international was supposed to replace compatriot Riyad Mahrez at Leicester but he ended his debut Premier League season with just one goal and eight starts.

Signing Praet while getting rid of Ghezzal? Now that’s what you call killing two birds with one stone.
