Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City reportedly want to raid Premier League rivals Burnley after selling Harry Maguire to Manchester United.
Leicester City are reluctant to pay a substantial fee in excess of £40 million for Burnley defender James Tarkowski and will instead look at loan deals as they aim to replace Harry Maguire, according to Sky Sports.
When you consider that the Foxes refused to budge on their £80 million valuation of Maguire, which forced Manchester United to pay a world-record fee for the England international, there is a sense of irony in the claims that Leicester think Tarkowski is far too expensive.
Burnley don’t want to sell one of their key players. And, with £80 million burning a whole in Leicester’s back pocket, why on earth should they demand anything less than a mammoth fee for their own highly-rated centre-half?
Sky claims that the Clarets want £40 million for the former Brentford man.
As a result, Leicester are instead scouring the market for potential loan deals as they look to avoid an expensive outlay.
This comes just a day after Bournemouth informed Brendan Rodgers’ side that it will take £75 million to lure Nathan Ake, the Dutch international powerhouse, away from the Vitality Stadium, as reported by Leicestershire Live.
It seems that Leicester’s desire to eke as much profit as possible out of Manchester United has inadvertently made their pursuit of a replacement a very costly venture.
