Leicester City are set to sign Hastings United defender Jamie Fielding ahead of the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

The Foxes have history when it comes to snapping up little-known talents from non-league, famously paying £1 million for a certain Fleetwood Town striker by the name of Jamie Vardy back in May 2012.

And Fielding will be hoping to Vardy’s esteemed footsteps at the King Power Stadium if, or perhaps when, his move to Leicester is completed.

A young talent who emerged through the ranks of Eastbourne Borough before joining Hastings, he is described on the club’s official website as a ‘cultured’ centre-back with impressive leadership skills despite his young age.

TEAMtalk claims that a number of Premier League and Championship clubs have expressed an interest in the 19-year-old but Leicester have now opened talks. It has been agreed that Fielding will spend next week training with the 2017 Premier League champions before signing a contract with the Foxes.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is renowned for his work with young talents and he could be the perfect coach for the coveted Fielding.
