Islam Slimani has scored just eight Premier League goals for Leicester and Brendan Rodgers could let him go after an awful loan spell at Fenerbahce.

Leicester City could be about to take a £20 million hit on Islam Slimani with Brendan Rodgers expected to sell the misfit striker during the summer transfer window, as reported by the Daily Star.

Leicester were the reigning Premier League champions when the Algerian target man arrived from Sporting Lisbon for a club record £30 million, as reported by the Guardian.

But, like many of their signings in the summer of 2016, Slimani struggled to adapt to life at the King Power Stadium. Three years on, the 30-year-old has tallied just eight top flight goals for the Foxes while enduring miserable loan spells at Newcastle United and Fenerbahce.

And The Star reports that Leicester are set to cash in on Slimani this summer with the striker’s price-tag dropping to just £10 million.

“I have my own ideas. It’s obviously been a difficult one for him. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out for a club,” said manager Brendan Rodgers, who is the fourth different coach to take charge of the Midlands outfit during Slimani’s time at the club.

Fotospor claimed in March that Slimani was close to agreeing a return to Sporting Lisbon though it seems that no deal has been done so far.

He has scored just five goals since joining Fenerbahce on loan this season, including one in 15 Super Lig fixtures.
