Yohan Benalouane has impressed in the Championship but will he swap Nottingham Forest for Leeds United or Cardiff City?
Leeds United and Cardiff City are interested in signing Nottingham Forest defender Yohan Benalouane this summer, according to Foot Mercato.
The 31-year-old centre-back has only been playing his football at the City Ground for the last two months, having joined Forest on an 18-month deal from Leicester City.
Benalouane cost the Foxes £6.8 million in 2015 (ESPN) but he failed to make an impression in the Premier League. Since moving to Forest, however, the Tunisia international has caught the eye with Martin O’Neill’s side eyeing a place in the Championship play-off places.
Foot Mercato reports that Forest are already facing a challenge holding on to Benalouane beyond the end of the season.
Leeds United, who are third in the Championship and dreaming of being promoted automatically, are reportedly interested. Benalouane could potentially offer some Premier League experience for Marcelo BIelsa’s side, who are short on top-level exposure.
Cardiff are also in the race. Neil Warnock’s side are stuck in the Premier League’s relegation zone but there is still eight games left and they are just two points adrift of safety as it stands.
