Daniel James has shone in the Championship with Swansea City and Marcelo Bielsa reportedly wants to bring him to Leeds United.
Leeds United are set to launch an opening bid for Swansea City winger Daniel James this week, according to TEAMtalk, but it is likely to fall well short of the Welsh side’s £5 million asking price.
It is understood that Marcelo Bielsa wants to add another attacker to his promotion-chasing squad before the transfer window shuts next week, with Leeds having been left short by the sudden exit of Spanish schemer Samu Saiz, who returned to Madrid with Getafe.
Welsh international James has emerged as their top target after a fine breakthrough season under Graham Potter at Swansea.
And TEAMtalk claim Leeds will make an offer of £2.5 million before the end of the week, although Swansea are more than likely to turn it down and ask the Championship table-toppers to double their bid.
The fleet-footed 21-year-old, who has a single cap for the Welsh national team, has provided four assists this season for Swansea, shining alongside fellow academy graduates Conner Roberts, Oli McBurnie and Joe Rodon.
The Mirror reported that Leeds are prepared to walk away from their pursuit of James if they cannot meet Swansea’s asking price, with the West Yorkshire powerhouses operating on a limited budget.
