Mbaye Diagne was linked with Elland Road over the summer and he could reportedly be on his way to Championship leaders Leeds United in January.

It seems only a matter of time before Mbaye Diagne moves to England.

Turkish Football reported in the summer that Leeds United were one of a number of British-based sides keeping a close eye on the £3.6 million-rated Kasimpasa striker, who had even applied for Italian citizenship in order to avoid potential work permit problems

Leeds, it was claimed, had entered talks with Diagne but the Senegal international was still stuck in Turkey by the time September came around.

But latest updates provided by Turkish Football claim that a move to Elland Road could still be on the cards. Leeds have continued to scout Diagne in the early weeks of the season and will allegedly send representatives to watch him again in this weekend’s clash with Alanyaspor.

Diagne has been a revelation since he arrived in Kasimpasa from China in January and has notched seven goals in just five Super Lig games so far this campaign.

As it stands, Leeds have only one fit and senior centre forward thanks to injuries to both Kemar Roofe and Patrick Bamford, who will be out for four months after suffering a cruciate ligament blow.

19-year-old Tyler Roberts, however, stepped up in style in his first Championship start, scoring twice in Tuesday’s 3-0 win against Preston North End.
