Leeds United offer new contract to goalkeeper Kamil Miazek

Kamil Miazek was one of a number of players added to Leeds United’s reserve squad by Victor Orta last season.

It’s been a good season for young goalkeepers at Leeds United.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell overtook Andy Lonergan and Felix Wiedwald to cement his place as the club’s number one in the final few months of the Championship season, while, in his absence, Kamil Miazek has produced some impressive displays for the U23s.

The former Feyenoord keeper Miazek had first been linked with a move to Elland Road all the way back in September but it took until the middle of January for the 21-year-old shot-stopper to put pen to paper, inking a contract until the end of the 2017/18 season.

Leeds signed him on a free after being allowed to leave Chojniczanka Chojnice in his home country of Poland last summer.

And Miazek has obviously done enough in the last four months to prove to Leeds’ decision makers that he deserves the chance to prove himself over a longer period of time.

The Polish stopper was named on Leeds United’s retained list, with the club confirming that he had been offered a new deal to remain at Elland Road.

The retained list also includes the versatile midfielder Clarke Oduor and left-back Tom Pearce, who forced his way into Paul Heckingbottom’s first-team back in the spring.

HITC Sport understands that Pearce has put pen to paper on a new deal, ending speculation that he could leave Elland Road for a Premier League club.
