Hibernian midfielder John McGinn is said to be wanted by Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Rangers, as well as Championship outfit Leeds United.
John McGinn is one of the most in-demand players in Scottish football and it seems that the Hibernian midfielder has a new admirer – Leeds United.
According to The Sun (20th May, page 67), Leeds will make an attempt to sign the 23-year-old Scotland international in the upcoming summer transfer window. Leeds manager Paul Heckingbottom is understood to be a big fan of a player who has impressed north of the border with his blend of hard work and creativity.
McGinn scored six goals and set up eight more in all competitions across 2017/18, as Neil Lennon’s Hibs marked their return to the Scottish top flight with an impressive fourth placed finish.
It is reported that Leeds are planning a bid of £2.5 million, but that is likely to get short shrift from Hibs, who value McGinn at around £5 million despite the fact he has just one year left on his contract.
Leeds will face plenty of competition for the former St Mirren youngster, not least from Celtic and Rangers.
The Sun adds that Celtic are still interested in a player who has been linked with a move to Parkhead for over a year. McGinn has been likened to current Celtic skipper Scott Brown, and has been tipped to replace the veteran for club and country.
