Premier League leaders Liverpool reportedly want to sign Lyon’s Ligue 1 rising star Aouar in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool are desperate to sign Houssem Aouar this summer with Jurgen Klopp dead-set on a deal for the Lyon midfielder, according to Le10 Sport.

A creative midfielder who has shot to fame with some inspirational performances in Ligue 1, Aouar’s idol is Andres Iniesta and the Barcelona great’s influence is clear to see every time the young Frenchman takes to the field (Calciomercato).

He has scored seven goals and set up eight more in all competitions this season, form that has caught the eye of plenty of clubs across Europe.

Le10 Sport claims that Klopp would ‘really like’ to bring 20-year-old Aouar to Anfield this summer and will make a big push to get the deal done.

The chances of the France U21 international arriving on Merseyside look slim, however. Lyon will reportedly listen to offers for Nabil Fekir and Tanguy Ndombele but have no plans to sell Aouar. They want to keep their prized asset for at least another year, which makes sense given that they are expected to lose some of their other key players over the next few months.

Liverpool might be wasting their time here.
