Despite the impressive displays of both Ruben Neves and Joao Moutinho, not to mention the special talent that is 18-year-old Morgan Gibbs-White, reports from Italy suggest that Wolves could spend big on another highly-rated midfielder in the January transfer window.
Calcio News 24 reported at the end of October that Wolves had contacted Napoli about the prospect of signing Amadou Diawara, and Calciomercato has now provided an update.
It is claimed that super-agent Jorge Mendes, once again acting on behalf of the Black Country side, has made an approach and is fully aware that the 21-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League.
Despite the fact that Diawara has started just four Serie A games under Carlo Ancelotti this season, Calciomercato reports that the defensive enforcer would not come cheap.
Napoli would demand £44 million after allegedly rejecting a £33 million offer from Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window. That would make Diawara Wolves’ record signing, comfortably exceeding the £18 million they paid Middlesbrough for Adama Traore in August.
