Everton goalkeeper Joel Robles is set to leave the Premier League and return to La Liga with former club Getafe bringing him home.

Joel Robles has just a few months remaining on his Everton contract and, considering that he has made just two first-team appearances this season, it should be no surprise to learn that he is on his way out of Goodison Park.

The Spanish goalkeeper, who moved to Everton alongside his former Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez in the summer of 2013, has barely been given a chance on Merseyside this season and is stuck behind the almost ever-present Jordan Pickford in the pecking order.

And AS is now claiming that Robles’ time at Everton is all but up.

Although his next club appears to be decided already with La Liga team Getafe needing a new number one to replace the Crystal Palace-bound Vicente Guaita.

The report states that the Deep Blues tried to bring Robles to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez last summer and the 27-year-old wanted the move, only for Everton to block his exit route.

But the former Spain U21 international, who was born in Getafe and represented the club’s youth team between 2005 and 2007, now appears all but set for a return to the club where he started his career as his contract at Everton winds down.

The Madrid-based side have enjoyed an impressive first season back in Spain’s top flight after their promotion last year and currently sit ninth, 18 points clear of the relegation zone.
