Jairo Riedewald is edging closer to the exit at Crystal Palace.

A £7.9 million signing from Ajax in the summer of 2017, the versatile Dutchman has not made a single Premier League appearance this season with Roy Hodgson preferring other options in midfield and defence.

Riedewald has been linked with a move to Spain in recent times and, according to Sky Sports, he has now entered talks ahead of a switch to Celta Vigo.

It is understood that the 22-year-old will move to the Balaidos on an initial loan deal until the end of the season. Celta will then have the obligation to buy him permanently but only if they avoid relegation from the Spanish top flight.

The 2017 Europa League semi-finalists are currently 17th, just two points above the bottom three.

Riedewald, who has earned two caps for Holland, is expected to be the latest fringe player forced out of Selhurst Park this month.

Jason Puncheon joined Huddersfield Town on loan last week while Aleksandar Sortoth, Jonny Williams and Jordon Mutch have also departed, the latter having been released after four miserable years in the capital.
