Championship relegation battlers Ipswich and Bolton Wanderers are reportedly hoping to sign Hodson from Scottish Premiership outfit Rangers.

Ipswich Town and Bolton Wanderers are stuck in the Championship’s bottom two with relegation to League One looming. But, according to The Sun, both clubs are hoping that a January deal for Lee Hodson can help them pull off a great escape from the drop.
The Sun is claiming that the Northern Ireland international could be set for a return to England this month, two-and-a-half years after he moved to Rangers from MK Dons.
Hodson has struggled to establish himself at Ibrox, falling to oust James Tavernier from the starting XI.
He’s now on loan at St Mirren with the report adding that manager Steven Gerrard will listen to offers. The 27-year-old’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
With funds tight at Ipswich and Bolton, however, it is unlikely that Rangers will enjoy much of a windfall from Hodson’s departure. According to Transfermarkt, The Gers paid around £300,000 to sign the former Watford defender in the summer of 2016.

Paul Lambert’s Ipswich have already made five signings this month, including former Wales defender James Collins and Huddersfield Town striker Collin Quaner.
The Tractor Boys have raided Rangers before too, signing both Joe Garner and Martyn Waghorn (below) in 2017.
