A Dutch U21 international could be on his way to the Championship, with Hull City reportedly targeting Jordy de Wijs of Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven.

Hull City finding a replacement for the influential Michael Dawson is certainly easier said than done.
The veteran centre-back returned to former club Nottingham Forest upon the expiry of his contract, and his departure leaves a massive hole in Nigel Adkins’ back line. But could the void be filled by a 23-year-old Eredivisie player?

The 23-year-old PSV centre-back, who played 19 games on loan at Excelsior in 2017/18, is understood to have emerged as a target for the Humberside club after a move to Serie B outfit Perugia hit the buffers.
It is claimed that Perugia, who are managed by the legendary Italian defender Alessandro Nesta, had hoped to sign De Wijs but have failed to come to an agreement, opening the door for Hull to swoop for the Dutch U21 international.

De Wijs is an old-school defender renowned for his strength in the air and his willingness to put his body on the line for the cause. That sort of commitment could come in handy in a Hull side who conceded 70 goals in the Championship last season and ended the campaign in 18th place.
