Brentford face a challenge hanging onto Rico Henry this summer with the left-back on Hull City’s radar.

Hull City face one hell of a challenge finding a player who can replicate the influence of Andrew Robertson on their left flank.

The Scotland international developed into one of Britain’s most exciting full-backs since moving from Dundee United in 2014 despite The Tigers suffering relegation from the Premier League in two of his three seasons on Humberside.

Quick, intelligent and blessed with a wand of a left peg, Robertson was not only an effective outlet on the wings but also something of a playmaker from left-back, distributing the ball superbly in the final third.

No wonder, then, that their relegation last season coincided with plenty of interest. And, after weeks of speculation, the 23-year-old put pen to paper with Liverpool after agreeing a £10 million deal, as reported by The Mirror.

Though it appears that Hull have got a replacement in mind. The Mirror claims that they could compensate for Robertson’s departure by making a £3.5 million bid for Brentford flyer Rico Henry. The report adds that The Bees would demand £5 million at the very least but Hull want to test the waters with an initial approach.

One of the most highly-rated youngsters outside of the Premier League, Brentford pulled off an impressive coup when they snatched Henry from third tier Walsall last summer. The BBC report that the fee could rise to £5 million if additional causes are met, meaning manager Dean Smith will not let Henry go on the cheap.

The Express reported in late 2015 that Manchester United and Liverpool had both scouted a full-back dubbed ‘the new Ashley Cole’.

A shoulder injury meant Henry missed six months of action in his debut season at Brentford but that should not stop Hull making him their top target.
