David Wagner’s Huddersfield have reportedly offered Shinji Okazaki a way out of Leicester after making one Premier League start this season.
Shinji Okazaki will always be a legend at Leicester City for the role he played in their unforgettable Premier League title triumph of 2016.
But the hard-working Japanese international has slipped down the pecking order since Claude Puel took over at the King Power Stadium and just one of his 13 league appearances this season has come from the start.
According to Sky Sports, Huddersfield Town are hoping to take advantage, having approached Leicester about a potential deal for Okazaki.
It is no secret that the Terriers need attacking reinforcements, having scored just 13 goals in 21 top flight games in 2018/19. Former Mainz favourite Okazaki is hardly a prolific goal-scorer, however.
Since joining Leicester for £7.5 million four years ago, as reported by the Independent, he has hit the back of the net 14 times in the first division.
That said, his link-play and ability to defend tirelessly from the front would make him a useful outlet for a Huddersfield side currently stuck at the bottom of the table.
In truth, however, David Wagner probably needs more than Okazaki if his side is to survive.
