Considering the remarkable success of Mo Salah at Liverpool, now is probably the time to sign a winger from Basel.

And according to Blick (8th May, front page), there is a good chance that Mohamed Elyounoussi could be following his Egpytian inspiration to the Premier League this summer.

Basel failed to win the Swiss Super League title for the first time since 2009 this season, losing their crown to BSC Young Boys, and Blick reports that Elyounoussi is now keen on a move away from St Jakub Park.

The Norwegian international, who previously played in his homeland for Molde, has 10 goals and 17 assists in all competitions so is not short of suitors.

ESPN claimed earlier this year that Southampton, Leicester City and Arsenal were all chasing Elyounoussi after he scored one and set up the other in Basel’s 2-1 Champions League round-of-16 win at Manchester City.

And Blick reports that Huddersfield Town have now joined Arsenal and co in the race for a player who also has Bundesliga admirers in the shape of Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund.

Huddersfield would have to smash their transfer record to sign the versatile attacker, however, with Elyounoussi understood to be valued at around £18 million.

The winger, who shot to fame in a Europa League clash against Celtic back in 2015, says he is inspired by Salah and believes he is ready to make the step up to the Premier League.
