David Wagner looks set to reunite with his former Borussia Dortmund youngster Erik Durm at Premier League outfit Huddersfield Town.

Four years ago, Erik Durm was part of the Germany squad that won the World Cup in Brazil. At the time, the 22-year-old left-back was tipped for big things at Borussia Dortmund and Joachim Low’s national team.
But thanks to an unfortunate and relentless run of injury problems, Durm has become the forgotten man of German football and was nowhere near the 2018 World Cup squad despite his nation’s relative lack of top-quality left-backs.
According to Bild, however, this will not stop Huddersfield Town from taking a chance on Durm. It is reported that the now 26-year-old is likely to bid farewell to Dortmund this summer and a move to the John Smith’s Stadium is on the cards.

Durm, who has just a year left on his Dortmund contract, is understood to be close to a move to Yorkshire though a transfer fee has not been agreed just yet.
Now, Terriers boss David Wagner knows Durm well, having worked with him during his time in charge of Dortmund’s reserve team. So Wagner will know exactly what he will be getting with the eight-time international.

If Durm can put his fitness problems behind him, he would be an immediate upgrade on Chris Lowe and Scott Malone. That is easier said than done, however.
Durm has made just 20 Bundesliga starts in three seasons and none at all in the 2017/18 campaign.
