At the age of just 18, Jean-Clair Tobido has established himself as one of the most promising young defenders in French football.

The youngster has made ten appearances in the French top flight for Toulouse this season, helping fill the void created by the departure of captain Issa Diop to West Ham United in the summer. Although reports in recent days have suggested that Tobido could soon follow Diop to England.

La Depeche have claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers are very interested in the teenage centre-back, but they are not the only ones.

Liverpool are understood to be keeping tabs on Tobido, while reports from Les Violets are stating that over 40 teams have sent scouts to watch the latest Toulouse wonder kid in recent times. So Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will have to fight off a huge amount of competition if they are to bring Tobido to Molineux.

As it stands, the youngster is due to become a free agent next summer given that he is yet to sign a professional deal.

With the situation developing into a saga across the Channel, Toulouse have taken Tobido out of the limelight until he makes a decision about his future.
