Premier League strugglers Southampton are reported to be interested in Borussia Monchengladbach’s Bundesliga winger Patrick Herrmann.

Southampton’s defence has been fairly dreadful this season but their attack hasn’t exactly been flying either.
So it is no surprise that Ralph Hasenhuttl has apparently identified a number of players he wants to be brought to St Mary’s in the January transfer window. According to German publication Express, The Saints have made an enquiry about the availability of Borussia Monchengladbach winger Patrick Herrmann.
The 27-year-old could be available on a bargain fee too, given that his contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
The Express reports that Herrmann could cost as little as £4 million with Stuttgart also understood to be interested.
Herrmann looked a hugely exciting talent a couple of years ago, particularly during a stellar 2014/15 season in which he scored 11 Bundesliga goals.

But the two-time Germany international has struggled with injuries ever since and has fallen down the pecking order as a result, starting just two league games in the current campaign.
Interestingly, Herrmann scored twice against Southampton in a 3-0 pre-season win for Monchengladbach back in early August. And Hasenhuttl could be the man to get one of the Bundesliga’s forgotten talents back on track.
