Championship duo Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County are just two of the sides keen on signing Millwall striker Lee Gregory.

Lee Gregory of Millwall celebrates after the Sky Bet Championship match between Leeds United and Millwall at Elland Road on January 20, 2018 in Leeds, England.

With just a year remaining on his Millwall contract, striker Lee Gregory is expected to be a man in demand during the summer transfer window.

According to the Mail, relegation threatened duo Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday are both keen on the 29-year-old centre-forward, who has eight goals in the Championship this season for Neil Harris’ side.

But the Black Cats and the Owls are not the only sides checking out Gregory. The Mail adds that Sheffield United, Cardiff City and Derby County have also been watching the lively number nine this season.

The Sunday Mirror (page 70, January 28) claimed Derby were mulling over a £500,000 bid for the former FC Halifax attacker during the winter transfer window and it is understood that Gregory is still in their sights.

The Mail, however, suggests that the chances of Gregory moving to Pride Park, or the Cardiff City Stadium for that matter, rests on which division his suitors will be playing in next season.

Cardiff are second as things stand, while Derby are fifth despite a worrying recent run. Though if either side is promoted to the Premier League, it is likely that they will have more ambitious targets than Millwall’s eight-goal striker.

Hope for the likes of Sheffield Wednesday then who, despite boasting some of the Championships biggest name attackers, have netted just 37 goals in 35 league games this season.
