There are not too many more highly-rated left-backs in world football right now than Porto flyer Alex Telles.

No wonder, then, that the 25-year-old Brazilian is on Everton’s radar with the Merseyside giants set to step up their pursuit of a long-term successor for Leighton Baines, as reported by the Mail.

Telles has been fantastic this season, with Sergio Conceicao’s Porto two points clear at the top of the Primeira Liga and on track for a first league title in five years. The one-time Inter Milan loanee has 11 assists in 23 domestic games this season, making him one of the most creative full-backs in all of European football.

And, in a boost to Everton’s hopes of luring Telles to Goodison Park, O Jogo claims that Porto have to raise around £45 million to comply with UEFA’s Financial Fair Play regulations and could therefore be forced to sell one or two of their best performers.

It is understood that Telles, alongside Ricardo Pereira, Yacine Brahimi, Danilo and top scorer Vincent Aboubakar, are among the players who could be sacrificed at the end of the season.

Everton would have to pay a substantial fee, however, with Telles probably the most expensive left-back they could possibly sign.

O Jogo reported in January that Porto, who have become accustomed to selling players for huge fees over the years, want £30 million.
